Cinnamon

PictureBest AOV cinnamon bred by Sarah Yeomans
The cinnamon is an agouti that is homozygous for chocolate dilution (b). This means that the "base colour of the fur is therefore chocolate, with chocolate ticking against a golden background arising from a proportion of the hairs being red tipped in similar fashion to the agouti" (Cooke, 1979).

The cinnamon is a longstanding variety of fancy mouse, predating the formation of the National Mouse Club in 1895. The colour should be rich and not lacking in red tones. The colour of a cinnamon improves with age, so until you are experienced at selecting the best do not reject youngsters too quickly.

Cinnamons are often bred along with agoutis and reds. Outcrosses would be the chocolate tan or self chocolate. Common faults are similar to the agouti; tan vents and poorly coloured feet including the toenails.
